The concept of international relations is increasingly becoming complex as a result of changes that took place in the international arena lately.
In this context, the training of personnel and staff for the structures concerned with external activity to be well structured and focused on basic pathways of international relations, such as: political, economic , jurisdictional, humanitarian, and diplomatic ones
Each of these segments of international relations has its own targets and tasks to be achieved and performed by the staff that were especially trained in terms of the specificity of each segment.
In the segment of (political) international and diplomatic relations the activity of the staff is mainly focused on maintaining and strengthening diplomatic relations with other countries and international organizations; organizing and providing professional negotiations; elaboration, evaluation and signing of agreements; monitoring on observance of diplomatic and consular privileges; the image formation of the country by efficient information activities in the host country; analytical work and information for own government about real processes in the host country; providing professional solutions for the whole set of issues related to international cooperation.
In the segment of international economic relations and international trade specialists work is characterized by ensuring effective mutually beneficial economic relations; actions of emancipation of national business at the level of practice and international law and in accordance with technologies, rigors, requirements and financial rules at the international level; conceptualisation of process of harmonization of fiscal policy and international accounting standards; inoculating the socialization of new technologies and innovative spirit in international economic relations.
In the segment of international law specialist functions are not limited to the development of legal rules or the agreements governing relations between the parties in international processes. In the Republic of Moldova specialists in international law, employees of state service, including diplomatic one, must be involved in continuous research activities, analysis and recovery process of harmonizing the national legislation with international rules of law. Specialists in international law have a key role in the foreign ministry, embassies, consulates, departments within ministries, departments and sections within local government.
In the segment of international humanitarian relations specialists work is manifested by participation in the development of the main directions of state policy with regard to compatriots living abroad; the development of international law rules on relations with compatriots, the support of compatriots living abroad in the political, judicial, socio-cultural aspects etc.
In order to make their activities more efficient all state structures and non-governmental ones concerned with international relations are to embrace the entire spectrum of specialists, such as, the political and diplomatic relations, international law, the world economy and international economic relations, policy analysis, translation and others.
